AHA Heartsaver First Aid with CPR and AED

This combination course is designed to teach members of the general public how to assess and treat injuries and medical or an environmental emergency until professional help arrives. Skills focus on keeping the rescuer safe, while providing life-saving assistance to the patient in a variety of scenarios. Students learn proper techniques to use when treating internal or external bleeding; dealing with anaphylactic shock; managing bone and joint injuries; burn care; recognizing symptoms of heart attack, stroke, diabetic emergencies and more. Students also learn proper CPR techniques, how and when to use an AED (automated external defibrillator) and how to relieve choking for adults, children and infants. Use of a barrier device to prevent contamination during rescue breathing is also addressed. This combination course satisfies the First Aid and CPR requirements for child care providers in most states. Upon successful course completion, students receive an American Heart Association certification card valid for two years.
